Another brother, gone too soon.
Martin (Marty) George Perenick, (56) passed away unexpectedly in Portsmouth Regional Hospital Portsmouth, New Hampshire. He resided in Dover, NH, where he lived for almost 30 years. For eight yrs, he proudly served his country in the United States Coast Guard, mostly on the east coast. He successfully owned and operated a communications business. He was revered in the area for his accomplishments, his citizenship and friendship. He liked the eastern seaboard.
If he couldn’t visit his mother, something of which he almost always did, he sent flowers or lovely Mother’s Day cards, and the verses were always so prophetic. He spent his last day on earth, October 13, 2009, in his beloved Crandon taking care of some unfinished business left from his mother’s passing just two months ago. He was a good son.
Martin lived life to the fullest. He loved to camp at the Forest County Memorial Park. He loved fireworks and could hardly wait for the Fourth of July. He loved the holidays. In fact he was making plans to go pumpkin hunting the next day. His Christmas presents were always the best. He recently picked up his guitar and started playing in a small band, again. He loved life.
Martin’s children, Jonathan 18, and Nicholas, 11 were everything to him. He rarely missed Jon’s baseball games, Nicholas’ t-ball matches, their teacher conferences, and sat and helped them with homework incessantly. He made sure they always had the latest hardware for their computers, X-Box, etc. He never missed a chance to tell them in deeds and words how much he loved them. He was a good Dad.
Martin was the youngest child of George and Elizabeth (Pfeiffer) Perenick Feb. 23, 1953, in Laona, WI. As a child, he liked his birth date. He figured his namesake was George Washington, our first president, whose birthday was so close to his. His parents preceded him in death; as did his older brother, George Martin. Much was expected of “Martin George”. He accepted it
Martin is survived by his sister, Mary Jo (Perenick) Cyrus, along with her husband, Gary, their sons Michael, Joseph, and Spencer; their daughters, Marci (Brad) Vargo, Elizabeth (Roger) Linderud, and the Cyrus’ first grandchild, Rowan Linderud. The pictures of him cuddling the baby are so indicative of his gentleness. He gave good hugs.
Besides his children, and good friends Al, Dennis, and Dave, he is further survived by his companion, Tracy. She was just getting to know my brother the father, the uncle, the poet, the musician, the romantic, the craftsman, and the Christian. His life was full, albeit not complete. He knew it.
Visitation will be on Friday, October 23, 2009 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Weber-Hill Funeral Home, Crandon. Funeral Service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Bill Farr officiating.
