Obituary:
James Adolph Ambrosius Sr., 77, of Laona died Friday, November 20, 2009 at home. Jim was born August 18, 1932 to Adolph and Mary (VanSistern) Ambrosius in Wauwatosa, Wisc.

He was a lifelong resident of Laona and graduated from Laona High School in 1951. After graduating, he met the love of his life, Shirley Geurts, and married her in 1953 in Wrightstown.
Jim started at a young age helping his father and brother in the logging industry for A. J. Ambrosius and Sons Logging Co. back in the day when work was done with horses and loaded many trucks and rail cars by hand. They worked hard to gain a reputation of having one of the best logging companies in the area.

After retiring from logging, he worked many years with his friends on the grounds crew at Nicolet Country Club in Laona taking pride in the quality of work he provided. Jim enjoyed traveling, spending several winters in Florida. The past few summers, he put many miles on his moped traveling the roads visiting with people along the way. He was a lifelong member of St. Leonard's Catholic Church and enjoyed attending daily mass. He was also a volunteer for the Laona Rescue Squad.

Jim managed to have a successful career, loving family, and a journey filled with great scenery and fascinating destinations. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include two daughters, Barbara (Mike) Belland, Sharon (Kevin) Kramer, one son, Jim (Patty) Ambrosius Jr., all of Laona. One sister, Jean (Jerry) Daul from Kaukauna, one brother, Tom (Ruth) Ambrosius of Laona, 9 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews as well as other relatives and close friends.

He's preceded in death by his wife, Shirley, infant son, Bruce, infant daughter, Susan, and his parents Mary and Adolph Ambrosius.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 25 from 9 to 11 a.m. at St. Leonard's Catholic Church in Laona. Funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with Father John Cerkas officiating. Interment will be at the Laona Cemetery. Weber-Hill Funeral Home of Crandon is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences at www.weberhillfuneralhome.com
