Obituary:
Chester Albin Majewski, age 97, of Armstrong Creek, passed away November 24, 2009 at the Aurora Medical Center, Oshkosh. Chester was born February 29, 1912 in Konin, Poland the son of the late Joseph and Frances (Maciejewski) Majewski.

Chester lived in Armstrong Creek since 1916. As an older boy and young man, he worked in the woods cutting logs with his father for the timber industry and at the same time he helped clear and develop fields for the family farm. At that time it was necessary to supplement the food supply with wild game and he became a hunter, trapper & and fisherman. Chester’s mother died in his teenage years and for the next several years he helped support his eleven brothers and sisters. After working in the logging camps, he traveled to the West Coast with friends working their way across the country.

He married Wanda Mary Wozniak June 29, 1939 and worked briefly in the Gary Steel Mills during WWII. A short time later he returned to Armstrong Creek to develop his own homestead and began raising his family. During this time, he built and maintained cabins on Lake Hilbert and other odd jobs. In the late 40’s he took a job with the Goodman Lumber Company until he retired in 1977.

Chester enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping in the little spare time he had when not working. During retirement, he spent some time traveling throughout the U.S. and Western Europe where he visited the town of Poland where he was born. His door was always open to extensive family. He enjoyed family, but enjoyed his grandchildren the most. During his life he was known as a hard worker. Chester will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Wanda
