Name: Eugene "Gene" Platek Date: January 8th, 1937 - December 3rd, 2009 Obituary: Eugene “Gene” Gerald Platek, age 72, Lakewood, WI formerly of Milwaukee, died Dec.3, 2009 at his home. Gene was born in Milwaukee to the late Frank A. and Loretta H.(Enoch) Platek. He was a veteran of the US Marine Corp serving two tours of duty. On May 12, 1962, Gene married Ella Friese. He was a machinist for Harley Davison, retiring to Lakewood about 17 years ago. He was a member of St. Mary’s of the Lake Catholic Church, Lakewood where he served as an usher and was a member of the Holy Name Society. He loved baking goodies for church functions. Gene is survived by two children: Lance (Deanna) Platek, Menomonee Falls and Barbara (John) Huckstorf, Muskego; Granddaughter, Danielle. Further survived sisters, nieces, nephews and other relatives. Visitation was on Tues, Dec 15, 2009 at St. Mary’s of the Lake Catholic Church, 15232 Cty Hwy F, Lakewood, WI from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral mass at 12:00 noon celebrating the Mass was Fr. David Schmidt. Burial was in the St. Mary’s Church Cemetery. The American Legion Sylvan Post 44 of Wabeno will provide an honor guard and ceremonies.
