Marion M. Hickinbotham, age 76, of Lakewood, WI passed away December 26, 2009 following complications from a stroke. Marion was a lifelong resident of Appleton, WI, born August 4, 1933 to George & Caroline (Christianson) Dingeldein, raised by Antone & Lois Ulrich.
She was a graduate of Appleton High School, class of 1951, until the time of her marriage to Jim Hickinbotham on October 26, 1957. She was employed at the Appleton State Bank, later Valley Bank, finally M & I Bank as a bank teller. During her 44 year employment, she made many lifelong friends.
Marion & Jim raised four children, spending much of that time in Lakewood, camping, working and having fun, building many special memories and finally a retirement haven.
In Appleton, she enjoyed couples bowling at Hahn’s Lanes and ladies golf league at Reid Municipal. Following her retirement in Lakewood, she was a member of & golfer at McCauslin Brook County Club where she served as secretary of the Golf Beach & Social Club for 10 years. She organized & participated in their own Bocci Ball League at their home, two sports she enjoyed. She was a member of the McCauslin Brook Lioness Club and Friends of the Library, where she was actively involved in many fundraisers. Reading was a favorite pastime of Marion’s along with cross-stitching, watching the Packers & the PGA & making trips to the local casino. She also enjoyed playing cards & dominos with family and friends.
Marion & Jim spent time taking many trips with family & friends to several destinations around the United States. Most recently they settled in the Daytona Beach area amongst may friends in the same area. Family trips included Myrtle Beach, SC for their 50th anniversary celebration and Ashland, OR for the celebration of their daughters union.
Marion is survived by her husband, Jim
Four Children: Laurie Ably, Bruce Hickinbotham, Jane (Paloma) Hickinbotham and David (Julie) Hickinbotham.
Six grandchildren, John Ably, Nicole Hickinbotham, Anna Hickinbotham, Sam Alby, Megan Hickinbotham & Drew Hickinbotham.
Further survived by her sisters, Florence Schinke, Millie (Lee) Schuh, Ethel (Ralph) Gehring & Vi Sagert; and a brother, George Dingeldein.
Marion was preceded in death by her brothers, Fred & Dewey Dingeldein,; sister, Dorothy Dingeldein & granddaughter, Abby Hickinbotham.
Family will receive visitors from 9-11 a.m. Saturday, January 2, 2010 at St. Mary of The Lakes Catholic Church, Lakewood. Memorial mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Father Dave Schmidt officiating.
