Obituary:
David Parenteau, age 65 of Wabeno, WI formerly of Superior, WI, died at the Aspirus Wausau Hospital on March 26, 2010 after a long battle with several medical challenges.
Dave was born on February 25, 1945 in Superior, WI to Arthur Lewis and Roberta J. (Wells) Parenteau.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and graduate of the University of Wisconsin, Superior earning a master’s degree in education.
Dave began his teaching career in Minong, WI, where he was voted by the students as ‘teacher of the year’. He then taught in the Wabeno School District on the junior high level for many years. Poor health made it necessary for him to retire from teaching. While teaching in Wabeno, he was twice voted as ‘teacher of the year’.
Dave was very active in teacher associations, serving as president of the WEA for 1 year, as well as community and church organizations. He was a member of the Tri-County (Forest, Vilas and Oneida) Human Services board up until the time of this death. Through this committee, he was able to work with mentally challenged youth whom he loved.
Dave was a faithful member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church and a member of the Fr. Ocwieja Council 4932, Wabeno having served as Grand Knight for two terms.
He was also a very active member of the American Legion Sylvan Post 44, Wabeno
For enjoyment he loved camping and deer hunting. He was very proud of his hunt a few years ago after receiving the heart transplant to bagging a deer during archery season under the guidance of UFFDA (United Foundation for Disabled Archers).

Dave had a strong faith in Jesus Christ; a faith which helped him through many of the physical challenges which he encountered during life which included an amputation of a leg and a heart transplant five years ago.

Dave’s family is very appreciative for all the helping hands of family and friends extended to Dave during his disabilities.
He is survived by his mother Roberta J. Parenteau, Superior, WI

Jonathan David Parenteau, Wausau
Jen Parenteau, and special friend Gary Schramm, Waupun, WI
